JOB SUMMARY: Consistently perform the four non-negotiable sales standards of ASAP Selling in order to drive merchandise sales and provide exemplary guest service; assist in daily merchandise restocking and store maintenance; carry out store safety, security and related operational procedures; and similar other duties primarily in support of a retail store operation. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain general knowledge of Yankee Candle products, specifications and availability in order to provide high quality and informed guest assistance.
  • Transact merchandise sales by operating Point-Of-Sale (POS) register with speed. Wrap guest purchases for transit, using tissue or similar material for protection as necessary.
  • While on stage all team members must exhibit all of the attributes of Stage Presence including: Being Enthusiastic and Welcoming with all guests, Performing every task and interaction with a Positive Attitude, Being Approachable, Personable, and Engaging with every interaction, Greeting every guest with a Smile while providing assistance in a timely and congenial manner. Respond to all guest inquiries and questions presenting appropriate product/merchandise, store, and company information. Offer assistance with merchandise selections suggesting complimentary items, colors, candles, accessories, etc. to meet a guest’s apparent need or request.
  • Interact with coworkers in a positive, productive and cooperative manner, encouraging teamwork.
  • Assist in daily store maintenance as required or requested, in order to maintain cashier and floor sections in a fully stocked, clean and orderly manner. This includes activities such as: checking in and unpacking merchandise received; affixing price and/or code stickers; retrieving, restocking or moving merchandise, (may lift or move full boxes of merchandise or product), placing excess in back storage area; breaking down shipping boxes and disposing of refuse as needed.
  • Carry out store safety, security and related procedures, as established, monitoring store sections for security of merchandise and registers, and for safety of others.
  • Perform various light housekeeping tasks or assignments, and on rare occasions, those requiring average physical demand such as snow shoveling entry and walkway, polishing surfaces and items, washing glass, dusting, vacuuming, changing light bulbs, etc.


  • Safety Awareness and thorough knowledge of lifting procedures. Ability to lift 25 to 35 pounds from floor to waist level on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and a variety of customer assistance and information. Previous Retail or Customer Service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to operate computerized cash register system.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with any store cleaning/restocking to keep store appearance at expected levels.
  • Great attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team.
  • Flexibility to work later hours in the evening is required when our retail store hours increase.

Flexibility in work schedule is also required for possible overtime, work on holidays, weekends and extended hours with minimal notice and as required by operational need. We offer time-and-a-half for all Sundays and holidays worked.
